Kannur: A youth was killed here in a bomb blast on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Jishnu from Echoor (26). Hemanth and Aravind, who were injured in the blast, were admitted to hospital.
The attack happened around 2 p.m. near the house of a groom in Thottada. A fight had broken out here on Saturday during the Saturday night music show. However, family members and natives solved the problem.
The wedding was on Sunday morning at the bride’s house. The explosion happened as the wedding party was returning to the groom’s house.
Jishnu’s skull was shattered in the explosion. Another bomb was recovered from the scene.
Some reports suggest that Jishnu was part of the team that planned the attack. However, this is not yet confirmed.
Ravi, a native and former grama panchayat president, told Mathrubhumi News the fight broke out over playing music at the groom’s house. “One group wanted to play music and the other didn’t. When the music started, so did the fight. The problem was solved immediately. No one expected it,” he said.
The gang members stood together at the wedding. After returning, Ravi saw two youths running away from the place. They boarded a white colored tempo traveler and fled the area. He then saw the body and called the police.
Police opened an investigation.
