An explosion hit a passenger bus on Thursday as it crossed a busy street in the south Cotabato town of Koronadal, injuring at least two people, the military said.
The victims, both tricycle riders, were following a yellow bus line unit with body number 2108 which came from Tacurong town, Sultan Kudarat when it was hit by the blast at around 12:20 p.m.
The military said investigators are still investigating the explosion that hit the rear part of the bus and are investigating possible motive and even suspects.
A Yellow Bus Line unit was also bombed in January last year in Tulunan, North Cotabato, killing four people. The motive for the Tulunan bombing, according to the military, was terrorism.
Another bus company unit was burned down in June, also last year, in M’lang, North Cotabato.
Both attacks were attributed to the group of former Daulah Islamiyah (DI) Emir Salahudin Hassan. The DI is allied with the Islamic State.
Hassan, also a former leader and founder of the notorious terrorist group Al-Khobar, was killed by the army in October last year in Sitio Pinareng, Barangay Damablac, Talayan, Maguindanao.
