RuneScape Board Game and Tabletop RPG Coming This Year

RuneScape is heading into a new area later this year: your table.

Jagex is teaming up with Steamforged Games to create a board game and role-playing game set in the RuneScape universe for release later in 2022. The board game will make its first appearance on Kickstarter, while the RPG will launch directly.

The games will draw their material from RuneScape’s long history, using adventures, characters and locations from the venerable MMORPG. Crafting and upgrading equipment, improving skills, cooking, NPCs, etc. should all be included in games.

The RPG sourcebook will be an illustrated hardcover book that is “compatible with the fifth edition rules of the world’s favorite tabletop role-playing game” – which the press release apparently couldn’t mention by name, but we know from what they are talking about.

Steamforged Games is no stranger when it comes to adapting video game worlds into tabletop games. Its other titles include a board based on Monster Hunter: World, Horizon: Zero Dawn, the Resident Evil franchise, and Dark Souls.
