A 32-year-old man from Ahmedabad, Gujarat was arrested by the city’s criminal branch for allegedly sending an email to a Mumbai-based TV station stating that a bombing allegedly took place in a gurudwara here, officials said on Saturday. The mail turned out to be a hoax. The accused, Nilesh Parmar, “confessed” to sending the email, containing the bomb threat, to an official at the entertainment television station after failing to obtain a favorable response for a television soap opera project, said Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP), Crime, Chaitanya Mandlik. On November 2, the TV channel’s legal adviser informed Bangur Nagar police station in Mumbai that an unidentified person had sent an email indicating that a bombing would occur in a gurudwara in Ahmedabad. .
The sender ‘[email protected]’had also asserted that a “Rafale fighter plane will be used for the explosion of the bomb” and that the payment to carry out the task has already been made from Ahmedabad. After receiving the message from the Mumbai police regarding the threat mail, the Ahmedabad criminal branch arrested Parmar at his residence in Chandkheda neighborhood on Friday. He was later arrested for promoting enmity and hatred between classes and sowing fear among the public, the criminal branch said in a statement. production house in Ahmedabad. He traveled to Mumbai in 2013 to discuss a TV series project with officials from the famous entertainment channel, he added. However, as Parmar was refused entry into the channel’s office at that time and there has been no response about the proposed project to date, he sent the e- mail out of grudge, the statement added.
