Ludhiana bomb explosion: court extends custody of two co-defendants


The police had requested the pretrial detention of the two co-defendants because they allegedly radicalized the main defendant Gagandeep Singh; the court extended the pretrial detention until January 6

Ludhiana A local court today extended the custody of Ranjit Singh, 54, and Sukhwinder Singh, aka Boxer, 39, until January 6. The duo had been brought from Ludhiana Central Jail and are accused of radicalizing former cop Gagandeep Singh, the main defendants in the bomb blast case took place at the Ludhiana court complex on December 23 . They had shared a barracks with Gagandeep.

Sukhwinder, once a national level boxer, was arrested with 3kg of RDX by Banga police in 2012. According to police, before being arrested again in 2019, Boxer was in contact with some militant groups in Jammu and -Kashmir when he went there to buy AK-47 rifles.

Meanwhile, panic also reigned in the court complex on Saturday, when a fire broke out in a room on the 6th floor of the district court complex. A short circuit was the cause of the fire.
