The Chronicle of Austin reports that the production for The walking dead spin off Fear the living dead will be moving to Savannah, Georgia after December 17th.
This is not the first step of the series as it shot the first two years in California, then in Baja California in Mexico for the third season. The series filmed its last four seasons in and around Austin. This move will have serious effects on the Austin job market. The Chronicle of Austin reported that Texas Motion Picture Association executive director Paul Jensen has confirmed the show’s departure.
This decision will be devastating for the Texas film community. The move is believed to be linked to the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP) which is slowly seeing its funding decline each year. This will not only affect Austin as Fear the living dead toured in Round Rock, Bartlett, Lytton, LaGrange and Manor.
This will be a smart move on AMC’s part, as the Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act (GEIIA) grants a 20% tax credit to companies that spend $ 500,000 or more in Georgia during production and post-production. . This may include a single production or the total of several projects aggregated in a single tax year.
Fear the living dead season 8
In June, fear the Walking Dead Co-showrunner Ian Goldberg told Insider, “This is not the last season, at least to our knowledge of AMC. They didn’t tell us.
He went on to say that they would continue to tell the TWD fear stories as long as AMC allows them.
There hasn’t been an official renewal announcement for Season 8, but if they plan to move production to Georiga, it’s a good sign that the series will be renewed.
Fear the living dead season 7
The spinoff series is currently airing its seventh season on AMC and AMC +. The sixth and seventh seasons saw a resurgence in the series as the storylines became much more enjoyable. A nuclear bomb explosion transformed the atmosphere and the landscape, creating a massive transition for the characters in season seven. Many new characters were also introduced in the first half of the current season.
The series has three characters who have passed through the flagship series. Morgan Jones (Lennie James), Dwight (Austin Amelio) and Sherry (Christine Evangelista) all successfully transitioned to TWD fear and are now the main characters of this series.
With The walking dead ending in 2022 and the second spinoff series The Walking Dead: The World Beyond in its last season, TWD fear would be the only current series to continue the fandom.
Plans are underway for a Walking Dead Series derived from Carol and Daryl and Tales of the Living Dead received the green light for summer 2022.
Fear the living dead returns to AMC on November 14th with “Till Death”. This episode is currently available on AMC +.
